VIDEO: Supermarket catches fire in Pinetown

No injuries have been reported and the cause of the fire is unknown at the moment.

FIREFIGHTERS were called to extinguish a fire at a building in the corner of Anderson Road and Old Main Road (Josiah Gumede Road) this morning, (Monday, 18 May).

Blue Security community liaison officer, Andreas Mathios, said they received reports from various networks about a building that was on fire in Pinetown.

“The first response officer arrived on scene to find that a supermarket was on fire. He then went to check inside if there were any customers left inside the shop,” said Mathios.

Mathios said emergency services and fire fighters also arrived at the scene.

Rescue Care’s Gareth Jamieson said there had been no injuries reported.

Mathios added that the cause of the fire is unknown at the moment.
