House breaker arrested in Pinetown

The man was caught while trying to flee near the M7 freeway.

IN a joint effort between Metro SAPS and Blue Security, a house breaker was arrested in Pinetown on Friday.

“The arrest followed a call out to the Moseley area in the morning, when an unknown number of trespassers were reported to be stealing from a property,” said Blue Security’s tactical ambassador for Moseley and Queensburgh, Andre Engels.

Two units were sent to the home where the trespassers were seen and one reaction officer was tasked with patrolling the vicinity near the M7 freeway.

“The breakthrough occurred when the reaction officer patrolling the M7 freeway heard suspicious noises coming from a bush alongside the road,” said Engels.

A Metro Police unit was in the area and assisted in the search for the suspect.

The man was tracked down and arrested.

He had a three-metre metal sheet, a screwdriver and a hammer in his possession.

“The man was taken into custody by Metro Police and the items were positively identified by a nearby homeowner. He was taken to Pinetown SAPS for processing,” Engels said.
