Help sew bags for rape victims

The bags are filled with essential items from a list provided by the Jes Foord Foundation.

AFTER deciding that The Jes Foord Foundation would be the charity of choice for the year, Teagan Sandstrom from Ithemba Recruitment, has requested donations of spare fabric and cord from the community to make drawstring bags.

These bags are filled with essential items from a list provided by the foundation, to be used and distributed to victims of rape.

The foundation is under enormous pressure to provide these bags on an on-going basis and requires all the help it can receive.

Sandstrom said she has received a great response and volunteers have been hard at work during lockdown to get the bags sewn.

“I would like to appeal to the community for more volunteers who would like to assist in sewing these bags. All fabric that has been donated is dropped off along with other supplies to get the bags made,” she said.

Sandstrom extended her gratitude to all the women who have either donated fabric or given of their time to sew these bags on their behalf.

“These ladies have made the biggest contribution of time and effort for a good cause,” she said.

Should you be in a position to assist in the sewing process or help by donating spare fabric, contact Ithemba Recruitment offices directly on 031 466 1411 or info@ithembarecruitment.co.za
