NPO donates to Clermont orphanage

Epic Youth Matters donates food hampers in Clermont.

EPIC Youth Matters has distributed food to an orphanage in Clermont. In these uncertain times, this NPO is doing their best to help underprivileged communities.

“The building these children were housed in was unsafe for them to live in, so four years ago, they were moved to the tin houses. Four years later, they are still living in those tin houses,” said Michelle Chetty, director of the Epic Youth Matter organisation.

“There’s more than 60 households that need food and this is the first time they have received any food since the lockdown started,” said Chetty.

The NPO is thinking of doing another distribution and needs the help of the public.

“If you would like to contribute please let us know. If you can, please share this with others. Each hamper costs R300 and can feed a household for about two weeks. The situation out there is dire.

“We couldn’t help but be in tears for these children today. But, together we can bring hope to an almost hopeless situation,” pleaded Chetty.

Epic Youth Matters work in schools with young people and children.

They work with boys also, offering a programme of healing, restoration, empowerment and help prevent boys from becoming perpetrators of abuse.

They are assisting during this crisis to get food to families of the children as well.
