Durban teen walks to raise funds for charities

The money raised was donated to Robin Hood Foundation and La Lucia Baby Home.

SIXTEEN year-old Lara Watts ran a half marathon (21.1km) around her house to raise funds for Robin Hood Foundation and the La Lucia Baby Home.

Lara said she had only ever ran 10km, so 21km seemed scary.

“But once I got going, I had so much fun and really enjoyed it,” she said.

The Grade 10 learner said she started at 6am and ended at 10am.

“On the day it was raining, so I ran through the rain and cold. My family were my supporters and some neighbours came out towards the end. We managed to raise funds for the Robin Hood Foundation and the La Lucia Baby home with the use of Zapper codes,” said Lara.

She said raising money for charities and trying to run the furthest she has ever before gave her lots of inspiration.
