“It was so incredible to see people ‘going the extra mile’, hundreds of Zapper and EFT payments were received, helping to raise an astounding R51 350 in this challenge. Our most humble and heart felt thanks to each and everyone that pledged, supported and got involved,” said founder of RHF, Cindy Norcott.”

During the lockdown, many people have felt a sense of powerlessness to help those in need.

On Saturday, 25 April, the Robin Hood Foundation hosted an extra mile challenge to encourage people to donate R100 to the various feeding schemes they are contributing to.”

Norcott said people were asked to go the extra mile and to put their money where people’s mouths are by beating their previous personal best exercise workout.”

This was one way in which people could make a contribution to the struggle for food that many disadvantaged families are experiencing. People ended up running in their gardens, skipped, swam, did ballet and fitness classes, Zumba and yoga classes, all in the name of going the extra mile for those in need,” she added.

As lockdown continues, Robin Hood would like to continue to make a difference together with their community partners on their Covid-19 relief drive to send out food hampers and supplies into the community. For more information, email info@robinhood foundation.co.za
