Krantzkloof shuts gates to visitors

The reserve's internal operations will continue to function as normal.

EKZN Wildlife will not be shutting down its operations in the field and essential functions at its head office will continue during the lockdown.

The Krantzkloof Nature Reserve’s conservation manager, Waldo Bekker, noted that law enforcement, anti-poaching and establishment security would receive priority attention.

“Picnic sites will not be open and all entrances to the reserve will be locked. No one from the public, including people with any affiliation with the Krantzkloof Nature Reserve as honorary officers or conservancy members, will be allowed inside the reserve,” he said.

Field rangers that would work at the Kloof Falls entrance gate were deployed into the field to assist Nkuthu and Mthombeni staff to monitor entrances, paths and trails in the reserve.

“EKZN Wildlife and Krantzkloof Nature Reserve wholeheartedly support this nationwide effort to stop the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Bekker.
