Kloof High’s Amara aspires to lead

The Grade 11 learner was invited to fill one of the coveted spots in a leadership course.

KLOOF High School’s Grade 11 learner, Amarachukwu Ike, recently entered the Boxer Youth Leadership competition and not only qualified to attend but also scored 100 per cent for her entry.

Thousands of entries pour in from all areas across two countries and, from the thousands of entries, only 50 learners are chosen to attend an all-expenses paid, internationally recognised youth leadership course in Zinkwazi soon.

Amara, as she is affectionately known by staff and peers, claimed a rare 100 per cent entry for the course.

“This is an extremely rare occurrence and past pupil, Jason McCall from the Boxer Superstore Group, and their film crew, joined our film crew, Kloof TV, to capture the magical moment of informing Amara of her incredible achievement,” said Kloof High School’s marketing manager, Tamaryn Van Wyk.

Amara’s mom and sister were called in to add to the surprise when the announcement was made in front of her Grade 11 peers.

Amara was absolutely elated to have been chosen from all the thousands of entries and to be the only learner in the Upper Highway area to score 100 per cent and place in the programme.

“I am extremely excited to meet all of the other learners at the upcoming Leadership course. Together, I know we can truly make a difference,” said Amara.

She also looks forward to zip-lining for the very first time and cannot wait to impart her new found skills and knowledge to her peers and the surrounding community.

The school’s acting principal, Rob Holding and Kloof High School’s educators said they were proud of Amara’s achievement and wished her well for the course.
