Hillcrest mall helps secure donation to charity

Through parking alone, the Hillcrest corner amassed a donation of more than R5 000 for Careline.

THE Hillcrest Villagers Athletics Club’s (HVAC) ThreshHold Hillcrest Marathon and Half Marathon helped rake in R5 890 for charity.

The event, the 41st edition of the race, was well supported by clubs from across KZN as well as a few runners from other provinces.

About 3 000 participants arrived early on the Sunday morning and the club felt it was pertinent to have safe, stress-free and secure parking for all.

The management of Hillcrest Corner agreed to partner with HVAC and the shopping centre’s parking was made available to those attending the race for R10 per car. The proceeds from the parking would be donated to a charity of Hillcrest Corner’s choice.

“These funds have been handed over to Careline Crisis and Trauma Centre. HVAC are proud to be associated with Hillcrest Corner and to be able to make a small difference to the valuable work done by the non-profit organisation. We are looking forward to hosting the next edition of the ThreshHold Hillcrest Marathon and Half Marathon in February 2021,” said the chairman of the Hillcrest Villagers Athletics Club, Marc Allen.
