Man trapped: Friday afternoon traffic backed up by yet another serious M7 traffic accident

Reports from the scene of an accident on the M7 late on Friday afternoon said the man is trapped in his car and rescuers are working to remove and stabilise him.

ACCORDING to emergency responders at the M7, the road, usually very busy on Friday afternoons, is even worse today following yet another serious accident on the road often called “death trap” by Queensburgh residents.

The accident scene, after the main road off-ramp of the M7 heading towards Durban from Pinetown, near North Park was described as serious by Rescue Care Paramedics spokesperson, Garrith Jamieson.

Jamieson said one man in the car was trapped and was being extricated by Netcare 911 paramedics.

“Advanced life support paramedics are stabilising the man entrapped in the vehicle and once freed, will be transferred to hospital for the further care that he requires,” said Jamieson.

“Traffic is severely affected as only one lane of traffic is trickling past the accident scene,” he added shortly before 4pm.
