TMC learners put best foot forward for fund-raiser

Last year, the Sponsored Walk raised more than R200 000 for Thomas More College's outreach projects.

HUNDREDS of Thomas More College learners recently donned their brightest and most colourful outfits for the annual Sponsored Walk, the school’s largest fund-raising initiative.

The school grounds became a stream of vibrant colours as learners depicted A Rainbow School, for a Rainbow Nation with their outfits.

The walk is a highly anticipated event across all of the grades as it raises funds to support the school’s community and social partnership with the Lower Molweni community.

Last year the school raised a staggering R220 000, exceeding the budgeted R200 000.

“The funds raised from the event this year will be used to build relationships between our own learners and those in the Lower Molweni community through literacy and computer-based learning programmes,” said the school’s admissions and marketing co-ordinator, Juliet Hartley.

This year’s Sponsored Walk was made extra special as the Grade 4 learners from Lamula Primary School joined the walk as well.
