WATCH: Heartbroken Malvern woman seeks cat she drove 800 kilometres to bring home

Michelle Coetzee is hoping the community can help her find Fluffles, who she went to great lengths to bring to their new home in Malvern.

A MALVERN woman, who drove more than 800kms from Polokane to bring her 12-year-old cat home, is distraught about losing the cat which jumped out of her vehicle right outside their new home and has remained missing for more than 3 weeks.

She sent the Highway Mail this heartfelt video clip where she explains what happened and begs for the community of Queensburgh to help her find Fluffles.

“When I stopped at our place, outside the yard, Fluffles must have jumped out the car,” said Michelle Coetzee through tears speaking to Queensburgh News over the phone on Friday (28 February).

Asked about a pet carrier, Coetzee said Fluffles had somehow managed to get out of it and then escaped out of the car’s open window.

Where might she be?

Apparently the feline dashed out from the car on Fairlight Road, Malvern.

Coetzee said she hoped someone kind had begun to feed her cat and was unaware she was being sought.

“On Sunday it will be three weeks. We didn’t even get to take her inside the house. So my baby has no idea where she is,” she said. “We just moved here so I have no friends or family to ask. I am trying to search everywhere each day on my own, but I can’t do this on my own anymore.”

Pamphlets

Coetzee said she had even printed pamphlets which she was posting into people’s post boxes while she walked the streets looking for Fluffles and was running out of resources to continue her search.

“We threw away the litter box I travelled with in the car as we didn’t think we would be able to use the sand to lure her home. I do not have the money to print posters until my husband gets paid as the trip cost us a fortune to fetch my baby. I definitely cannot offer a reward and won’t as people should give you info on your lost pet with love, not because of money.”

Distinctive

Asked to describe the cat, she said Fluffles’ colours and markings are quite distinct, especially around her face.

“I have had her for 12 years, when our landlord finally said, “yes, we can have our baby”, within a few days I went to fetch her. My husband had a back op recently and has been out of action since before I left to fetch her, so can’t walk around with me,” she said.

Anyone who finds Fluffles can contact Coetzee on 068 191 9920 either by phoning or sending a Whatsapp message. “I will come immediately if you see her,” said the desperate cat owner.
