Everton couple celebrates unbreakable bond

Wendy and Neville Greetham celebrated their 50th anniversary.

GETTING married on Valentine’s Day was just a coincidence for Everton love birds. Wendy and Neville Greetham celebrated their 50th anniversary last Friday.

“It was just a perfect Saturday for us, besides in those days Valentine’s Day was not as popular as it is now.”

For Wendy, Neville’s sense of humour is what she loves most about her hubby, “he is also a very caring man.”

The couple met in 1969, got engaged after a few months and got married on February 14, 1970 at Holy Trinity Church in Musgrave.

“I went to a funeral and she was there, I asked her out and the rest is history,” said Neville.

Wendy was only 17 years old when she tied the knot with Neville who was 23. “Things were different back then as at that age I was already mature. We had different values than the youngsters nowadays,” said Wendy.

“When we vowed till death do us apart, we meant it and took it very seriously. Love and communication has kept us going for all these years and family is very important to us.

“In life we have to appreciate all the things we have and what the other person does for you. My wife does lots of things for me. She spoils me and I appreciate all the things she does, no matter how small they are,” said Neville.

The couple has four children and eight grandchildren.
