KwaNyuswa childminder needs help

Thandiwe Sibisi needs help for her crèche to meet the social development department's criteria.

THANDIWE Sibisi worked as a domestic worker for 18 years before opening a crèche in KwaNyuswa, just outside Hillcrest.

Sibisi wanted to give back to her community while earning an income as her employers relocated in 2009.

With her love for children, starting a crèche was a perfect idea for Sibisi.

“I raised my late siblings’ 10 children and three of my own. So caring for children comes naturally to me.”

Sibisi’s problem now is that the social workers informed her that they were not satisfied with her premises.

“I look after 20 children with help from my daughter. We use a park-home and a wooden house. The social workers told us that we need proper toilets that we can flush,” she said.

Sibonokuhle Crèche looks after children aged six months to five years. “I started with few children at a rondavel. We had a container before this park home and the wooden house we are currently using.”

If anyone would like to assist Sibisi, contact her on 079 171 9975 or 067 069 1501.
