ST Mary’s Old Girl shows off her acting ambition

Daughter of business-women and motivational speaker, Cindy Norcott, Hannah loves challenging herself in multiple forms of media.

ST Mary’s Old Girl and University of Pretoria drama student, Hannah Norcott is a perennial over-achiever.

Daughter of business-women and motivational speaker, Cindy Norcott, Hannah loves challenging herself in multiple forms of media.

She has an extensive portfolio in performance arts – after featuring in 10 productions in her high school career.

She’s played major roles in Kearsney College’s Blood Brother playing the female lead of Mrs Johnstone, Alice in St Mary’s Alice in Wonderland as well as performing in Footloose at the Sneddon in 2014 and Soldiers in the City in 2015, directed by Themi Venturas.

With her long-term dreams being in musical theatre, Hannah’s impressive amateur CV has also seen her perform as a soloist with the Durban Philharmonic Orchestra and Kearsney College.

Like any South African it-girl, think Roxy Burger, Lalla Hirayama or MTV Base’s Kim Jayde, Hannah’s friendly face has also been on the television screen after she worked with Rad Productions and she’s currently working on a project with the production company.

“I have made contact with Rad Productions and we are working on a short film that is sure to be on SA’s radar soon,” said Hannah who has a lot of range and is trying to make her mark in the local modelling industry.

“I have also been contacted by two different clothing brands about getting on board as a model for their clothing lines,” said the model/singer/actor wasn’t able to disclose the brands she’ll be working with but did reveal she has something else up her sleeve with the finals of Top Model South Africa, in Pretoria on 27 February.

“I have never seen myself as a model but when a friend of mine introduced me to her model-scout friend and she said I had to apply for Top Model South Africa, I thought that she was crazy. I’m not shaped like a model and I definitely don’t eat like one either. But I’ve always been encouraged to take every opportunity and I thought that the worst they could say is ‘no’,” said the ambitious entertainer who has learnt a lot in her journey on the Top Model competition.

“I have learnt the power of being friendly to everyone around you. There are so many opportunities that lie within the people around you. You don’t have to look far, especially in this competition, to find someone that will help you grow or further your career. It’s important that you look at people and acknowledge that they always have something to teach you and a value to bring to your life.”

Hannah’s drive and desire would make her a good candidate for Miss SA and it’s something she won’t rule out in the future. “It was not a consideration before this but I’ve learnt that saying no to opportunities gets you nowhere. So I think it’s definitely a possibility in the future, you never know what might come from it,” she said.
