Trial of men accused of kidnapping Westville mum delayed further

The case has been adjourned until 25 February when it will continue in the Durban regional court.

THE trial of the four men facing charges related to the kidnapping of Westville mother, Sandra Munsamy, has been delayed until 25 February.

News reports this week suggested that two of the four men had some complaints about their present accommodation which was relayed to the court via their defense counsel.

The  two reportedly claimed that since being moved to the Embongweni C-Max prison in Kokstad they had been denied both showers and exercise.

Munsamy, daughter of  Poonsamy and Lutchmee Naicker, owners of logistics company, Crossmoor Transport, was grabbed in a seemingly professional kidnapping while driving on Stapleton Road, Pinetown, on the evening of Thursday, Thursday, 30 May last year.

Munsamy’s six-month-long ordeal ended on the night of November 7 when police found her  during an operation by police in Witbank, also known as eMalahleni, in Mpumalanga.

Police confirmed on Friday, 8 November that four men had been arrested, two in Gauteng, and two more in eMalahleni.

The four arrested made their first appearance in the Durban Regional Court U before Magistrate Anand Maharaj.
