Check your car licence before going on holiday, says SA Post Office

There are close to 40 Post Office branches in KwaZulu-Natal where vehicle owners may renew their vehicle licence.

THE SA Post Office urges motorists in KwaZulu-Natal to check their car licences before going on holiday.

According to the Post Office spokesperson, Nobuhle Njapha, many motorists may not be aware that their car licence has expired or will expire while on holiday and may be given a fine for driving an unlicensed vehicle.

“There are close to 40 Post Office branches in KwaZulu-Natal where vehicle owners may renew their vehicle licence. By law, vehicle licence renewal must be done in the province where the vehicle is registered and cannot be done while on holiday in another province,” said Njapha.

Motorists who did not receive a renewal notice can download the renewal form from www.postoffice.co.za.

Click on “Products”, then “Domestic” and choose “Motor vehicle licences”.

“During the past financial year, more than 3 million motor vehicle licences were renewed at Post Office branches. Motorists who have received a traffic fine issued in terms of the AARTO Act may pay the traffic fine at any Post Office countrywide,” she said.
