Mathematicians count their victories

A duo from Grade 7 at St Mary's DSG recently did the school proud at an international maths contest.

ST Mary’s DSG, Kloof, Grade 7 learners, Georgina Thornhill and Jeeyoung Yun, participated in the recent 22nd Po Leung Kuk Primary Mathematics World Contest in Hong Kong as members of the KZN team.

They each wrote an individual and team paper. The SA team, made up of four participants from Cape Town and four from Durban, choreographed a gumboot dance as their cultural showcase. The national team won trophies for memorable participation and best cultural performance.

The girls also enjoyed sightseeing and experiencing the Hong Kong way of life and were extremely grateful to their parents for the opportunity to take part in the event.
