Do not sell alcohol to minors, warns Hillcrest SAPS
Police said all licensed premises owners and staff members have a legal responsibility to prevent underage people from entering their licensed premises.
THE legal age to consume or purchase alcohol minor is 18 years of age and police has warned people to prevent sell.

Hillcrest SAPS communications officer, Capt Linzi Smith said all licensed premises owners and staff members have a legal responsibility to prevent underage people from entering their licensed premises (unless they are exempted due to restaurants) and refuse to sell alcohol to minors.
“Not only can the premises licence be removed, they are liable to pay a substantial fine. It is being suspected that minors are producing fraudulent ID’s which are being produced at the entrances, thus giving them access to purchase alcohol,” said Smith
She pleaded with the community to make a habit of knowing where their children are going out during the day and night. “If a minor is caught drinking or under the influence of alcohol or drugs in a licensed premises, the parents, too can be charged criminally.
“It’s a parents duty to know where your underaged child/ren are going and with whom they are with,” said Smith.
