KSP learner becomes a super TRUper

Slade Thomas was recognised as a Toys R Us TRUper due to his continued selfless service.

KLOOF Senior Primary School’s Slade Thomas, was awarded a Toys R Us Truper award for his continued selfless service.

The motto at Toys R Us South Africa, ‘No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted’, is what kick-started the national TRUper initiative. It was launched to help promote kindness, empathy and a culture of doing good deeds in schools.

The project encourages learners to help the less fortunate, care for the environment and build compassion from a young age. It has become so popular in selected schools across the county that pre-schoolers recognise that kind-heartedness, benevolence and humanity should be at the heart of everything we do.

In return, the youngsters are rewarded for their efforts with a R500 Toys R Us voucher, a certificate of acknowledgement as well as a TRUper cap and badge and recognition as ambassadors to their peers.

“We are delighted to announce our latest group of TRUper ambassadors who understand that being generous helps them appreciate what they have, makes them feel useful, and fosters empathy towards others,” said the head of marketing for Toys R Us and Babies R Us SA, Catherine Jacoby.
