Decomposed body found in Lahee Park, police seek relatives

The man is believed to be about 27 years old and his body was found by men who were playing soccer in the park.

PINETOWN detectives are looking for the relatives of an unknown black man whose decomposed body was discovered at Lahee Park in Pinetown on Saturday, 23 November.

According to Pinetown Cluster communications officer, Capt Bongumusa Manqele, police were called to a scene at Lahee Park where a group of men, who were playing soccer on the sports ground in Lahee Park, made the gruesome discovery.

“One man went to pick up the ball that went into the bushes near the sports ground and saw the body,” said Manqele.

According to Manqele the man is believed to be about  27 years old.

“According to his friends, the deceased used to stay in the Pinetown CBD and slept in the bushes but no one knew his name,” explained Manqele.
