Freedom tea to highlight human trafficking

"Human trafficking is a social justice issue that is close to my heart because I believe that every man, woman and child has the right to be free; and how can I enjoy my freedom unless I know others have that same opportunity?"- Organiser, Nicole Griffiths.

THE Operation Mobilisation Missionaries Africa and Human Trafficking awareness organisation will host a Freedom Tea at the St Agnes Church in Kloof on Saturday, 23 November.

Organiser, Nicole Griffiths, is a volunteer for Freedom Challenge, a ministry of Operation Mobilisation that serves Africa.

“I am the prevention coordinator, so my focus is reaching vulnerable men, women and children and equipping them to protect themselves, their families and their communities from the evil that is modern-day slavery and human trafficking,” she said.

According to Griffiths, the organisation runs seminars at schools, churches, businesses and for individuals and provide a comprehensive overview of the realities of human trafficking as well as practical skills and tools to combat human trafficking in each person’s area of influence.

“Human trafficking is a social justice issue that is close to my heart because I believe that every man, woman and child has the right to be free; and how can I enjoy my freedom unless I know others have that same opportunity?

“I also think it’s because I have only recently learnt how much of my everyday life actually informs the demand for unspeakable horrors to happen to people who are just like me,” she said.
