The energy from the historic win was still palpable on Friday with supporters of all ages chanting the captain’s name “SIYA!” (Siya Kolisi) and the retiring cult hero “BEAST!” (Tendai ‘Beast Mtawarira).

Along with wearing the Spingboks’ elegant green and gold colours, hundreds of supporters also proudly waved the South African flag.

As the gargantuan green bus took the turn onto Anton Lembede Street the cries of shosholoza soon rang from the crowd

Like he did at the Yokohama Stadium in Japan, captain Siya Kolisi then hoisted the Webb Ellis Cup up high into the cloudy Durban sky, and the crowd erupted.

The bus then took a slow drive towards the Durban City Hall with players like Lukanyo Am, Makazole Mapimpi and Faf De Klerk (fully clothed this time) waving at the partisan crowd.
