WFC awards its top achievers

Waterfall College's matriculants were sent off with wise words from self-made entrepreneur, Dario Scilipoti.

WATERFALL College celebrated the power of every small act at its speech day with guest speaker and award-winning coffee entrepreneur, Dario Scilipoti.

Dario shared his guiding principles for life with guests and students. “Find what you are passionate about and things will start to make sense, your decisions will start to flow.”

He calls himself an ‘accidental coffee roaster’ as he started doing it for fun on his veranda. The coffee tasted good, so he started selling it to family and friends.

One thing lead to another and, 15 months later, BlueBird Coffee Roastery was named FNB Coffee Magazine Awards Best New Roastery 2019.

“Our careers are an extension of our personal beliefs, so define those early and you will be able to make clearer, quicker decisions. That has helped to accelerate the development of my own projects.”

There were smiles and tears as the school bade farewell to the Class of 2019 who rang the bell for the last time before exiting the hall.

The school’s principal, Jeanette van der Merwe, said, “Matrics, when I think of all the ‘little things’ you have learned and the skills you have developed, I feel enormously encouraged that you are going to make a positive impact on our world. In the words of Luke the Apostle, He that is faithful in the small things, will be made master of many.”
