Hard work and service recognised

Former headmaster, Trevor Hall, was the guest of honour and was awarded a Pro Meritis Blazer for his years of contribution to the school.

WESTVILLE Boys’ High School honoured its top achievers at the annual matric prize-giving and speech night held recently.

The evening culminated with the matrics ringing the Swain Bell, signaling the end of their time at the school.

Service awards went to: Cameron Moodie received the Walton Cup Service to the School Award; Old Boys’ of 79 Service Award went to Richard Baah; Service to the Community Award went to Garreth Hayward; The Westville Lions Club Denis Hamilton Service Award went to Michael Bromfield; The Gerald Sweidan Award went to Andrew Burgess; Gareth Morgan Leadership through Service Award went to Jordan Shepard and The Westville Protection Services First Aid Award went to Jarryd du Toit.

The Silver Jubilee Shield, The Errol Stewart Award for Sportsman of the year was shared by Gareth Beavan and David MacDonald and the Mickey Arthur Trophy for Sporting Excellence went to Joshua Davies

Cultural Awards: Walton Scroll for Dramatics-Dramatics -Cameron Moodie and the McLean Scroll for Debating went to Reggie Davidson.

Leadership awards went to Mikael Daniel for the Governing Body Chairperson’s Award, Daniel Trevethan-Headmaster’s Award for Head of School and James Britz received the Lester-Hall Cup for Good Fellowship.

Nivan Poken was awarded the WBHS Trust Scholarship, while Gideon Chetty took the Proxime Accessit and the School’s top academic award and Gareth Beavan was awarded Dux for 2019.
