Ntsakisi Malabie, from CBN Solutions, told the girls that climate change is not one man’s problem but everyone needs to play a role.

“There are many things that we can do to save the environment. Early this year, President Cyril Ramaphosa introduced a Good Green Deeds campaign to take care of our communities and the environment.”

The campaign was introduced to change people’s attitudes and behaviours towards responsible management of waste and keeping their neighbourhoods clean, green and safe.

Malabie said people should have a ‘it starts with me’ attitude.

“Caring for the environment will benefit the future generation. People are always buying plastic bags at the supermarkets instead of reusing them. The biggest problem in the sea is plastic.”

The girls were encouraged by Malabie’s talk and challenged to adopt a stream or a park which they could clean regularly.

“It is so sad that our parks are filled with all kinds of litter and have been taken over by criminals.”

Being a school that cares for the environment andis big on the RRR – Reduce Reuse Recycle, the girls promised to spearhead clean-up projects.
