TAYLA Kavanagh is St Mary’s DSG, Kloof’s high school SPAR Star of the Month.
She is an exceptional runner and won all of the U19 races in the school league in 2019 as well as the ASA cross country championships junior women’s race over 6kms in September this year.
In terms of the ASA Road Rankings for women over 10km, Tayla is currently the second fastest junior with a time of 34:49. This places Tayla in 10th place on the ranking list for senior women over 10km and she is currently ranked 14th in the IAAF rankings for 10km in the U20 women – and she is only 18 years old!
She was the second junior in the FNB 10km race in a time of 36 minutes and 24th female overall in a very big and tough field. “Well done Tayla on an amazing athletics season. We wish you well for your running career,” said the school’s marketing and communication’s manager, Michelle Di Marco.
