Do More Foundation aims to make history with world record attempt

The local non-profit organisation, The Do More Foundation, aims to beat the world record for the most sandwiches made in an hour - that's more than 57 000!

THE Do More Foundation, founded by RCL Foods, aims to set a new world record by making 100 000 sandwiches in just one hour tomorrow.

The non-profit organisation has, to date, provided more than four million meals to people in need. On 16 October it aims to make its biggest statement on 16 October.

The foundation’s executive, Warren Farrer, said, “One of the biggest challenges facing our nation today is the constant plight of hunger and the shortage of food. According to the United Nations, more than two million South Africans survive on only one meal a day! Over 2.5 million children in our country are living below the food poverty line. You may ask yourself: “What can be meaningfully done to address this issue? How do we go about changing this reality? Where do we start?'”

Whether you’re rolling up your sleeves and grabbing a butter knife, spreading the word on your social media pages, or helping to create awareness by joining the conversation online, the NPO encourages you to become involved.

More than 40 organisations are on board at more than 40 different sites across the country and is one of South Africa’s biggest corporate collaborations.

“Together we can help raise awareness about South Africa’s food insecurity problem and its effects on our young children,” said Warren.
