“I loved jazz music at a very young age and was inspired by Pat Hlengwa and guitarist, Nhlanhla Mnikathi.”

The professional pianist, composer, song arranger, voice trainer and producer said what he loves about the genre is the ability to express your true feelings and thinking freely.

“Jazz gives artists a chance to improvise without changing the song and that fascinates me about this music. It has a structure but does not focus on just one key,” he said.

At Ashley Primary, Mthalane teaches music that includes general music, marimba, recorder, guitar and piano.

The dedicated husband and proud father of four said his show will also send messages to men to stop abusing women and children, “this is becoming a crisis and it needs to stop,” he said.

The show will start at 7pm and tickets cost R100. For details contact Mthalane on 079 080 2768.
