Stolen copper pipes recovered in Waterfall

Lawson attributed the tactical team’s recent successes in the Highway area to its strong working relationship with both the Hillcrest police, local neighbourhood watch groups and residents in the area.

A TOTAL of 17 copper pipes and a pair of pliers were recovered in Waterfall on Monday, 7 October by the Blue Security tactical community.

Tactical community officer, Sbu Mchunu followed a lead shared on a local neighbourhood watch group and recovered the stolen items swiftly.

According to Blue Security tactical community ambassador for the Highway area, Russel Lawson, Mchunu spotted the suspect in Link Road and gave chase. The suspect then headed in the direction of the taxi rank and he chased him through the taxi rank into Brackenhill Road near Watercrest Mall.

“The suspect ran along Brackenhill Road and towards some thick bush, dropping a stash of stolen copper pipes as he fled to evade arrest. Our officer gave chase but eventually lost the suspect in the bush,” he said.

All recovered goods were handed over to the Hillcrest SAPS.

The tactical team also, alongside Hillcrest SAPS, recovered a stolen vehicle in Molweni on Friday, 4 October.
