Keep Hillcrest Beautiful Association recycles its knowledge

The Keep Hillcrest Beautiful Association was only too excited to share its wealth of recycling knowledge with a team from the South African Challenge.

THREE young activists from the South African Challenge visited the Keep Hillcrest Beautiful Association’s successful recycling centre recently in the hopes of replicating its work across eThekwini.

To learn the ins and outs of how the depot works were Fam Krisanabal, Danny Morton and Simi Petrova.

The current projects the South African Challenge trio work on include the improvement of water quality in KwaNdengezi, assist the unemployed to start self-employment projects and teach communities the value of recycling and help set up recycling centres across the Durban area.

“The South African Challenge is led by young people who understand the need to find profitable, sustainable and innovative solutions to societal challenges. They visited the recycling centre to find out how to set one up and run it successfully and hope to replicate what the KHBA has achieved,” said the KHBA’s Marge Mitchell.
