Botha’s Hill NPO receives hearty donation

iKhethelo Children's Village in the Valley of 1000 Hills was the recent recipient of a hearty R10 000 donation.

IKHETHELO Children’s Village was presented with a cheque for R10 000 by Freitan and Gerber Paper in early September.

Freitan generously donated a cheque of R10 000 for a hole-in-one at the Gerber Paper golf day.

Due to none of the golfers being successful, Freitan decided that Gerber Paper could nominate a charity of their choice to receive the amount.

“Our immediate choice was the iKhethelo Children’s Village,” said Gerber Paper’s manager, Graham Briggs.

iKhethelo Children’s Village is based in the Valley of 1000 Hills and is a safe haven for vulnerable children.

This home was established more than 20 years ago and cares for between 45 and 47 children many of whom have lost their parents, have been mentally or physically abused, have HIV and range in age from a few months to 18 years old.

In January 2019, Gerber Paper upgraded the crèche at iKhethelo by building a covered play area. Once complete, all of the company’s staff assisted with painting the wall and helped create a fun and happy area for the children to play in.
