Monday, 16 to Friday, 20 September is National Wills Week.

DEATH may be an unpleasant thing to think about, however, questions such as who will inherit your assets when you die are worth considering.

Monday, 16 to Friday, 20 September is National Wills Week, an initiative by Legal Practice Council (LPC), is an annual event that encourages members of the public to draw up wills for free.

“By making a will, you ensure that your assets are disposed of in accordance to your wishes after your death,” said Bongani Mahlangu, Legal Aid SA provincial spokesman.

“All people should have a will in place to ensure that the distribution of their assets at death is done according to their desires. This legal document expands on the wishes put forward by the testator (the person who has drawn up a will) by meeting the guidelines and directions outlined, which has also been signed by witnesses.”
