Argument over R50 ends in murder in Motala Farm

The suspect was arrested shortly after the incident and is expected to appear in court soon.

PINETOWN police arrested a 32-year-old man yesterday, (9 September) for murder in Motala Farm.

Pinetown Cluster communications officer, Captain Bongumusa Manqele, said it is alleged the suspect and the victim had an argument over R50 in the Motala Farm area near Westmead.

“The suspect pulled out a firearm and shot the victim. Police then responded to the complaint and were given the description of the suspect.  A few minutes later, the suspect, fitting the description, was arrested at Motala Farm and was found in possession of a Glock firearm and eight rounds of ammunition,” explained Manqele.

The suspect was immediately arrested for murder and also charged for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

He is expected to make his first court appearance soon.
