They capped their fine season with a win in the DHS 7s event beating DHS 14-7 in the final after a 14-7 win over Glenwood High School in the semi-final.

Coaches Jeremy McLaren and Ivan Visagie paid tribute to their team, describing them as ‘talented, committed and an amazing group of young men’. They now go on to represent the province at the inter-provincial event at Grey College.

Their four other victories were achieved at Clifton College 7’s (beat Michaelhouse 21-14 in the semi-final and Hilton College 19-14 in the final), Maritzburg College 7s (beat DHS 42-12 in the semi-final and Michaelhouse 14-12 in the final), the KZN Top Schools 7’s (beat Hilton 12-5 in the semi-final and Glenwood 24-21 in the final), Glenwood 7’s (beat Glenwood 24-14 in the semi-final and Kearsney College 42-0 in the final). The only missing title was at the first event of the season, the Crawford 7s (beat Hilton 36-5 in the semi-final and lost to Michaelhouse 12-24 in the final).

WBHS also had three other teams participating in the 7s events that were open to them. The Under 15A 7s team were most competitive in their four events, reaching two semi-finals and one final, while the WBHS B team also did well, reaching the final of a B-division event, and a semi-final and quarter-final when competing in the A-division.

The U15B 7s team also gained valuable experience playing against A teams of other schools.
