Murder suspect nabbed in Pinetown

The arrested suspect is expected to make his first appearance in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 29 August.

A THIRTY-one-year old man was arrested for murder by Pinetown detectives on Tuesday, 27 August after he was identified by the wife of the deceased.

According to Pinetown SAPS communications officer, Cap Bongumusa Manqele, it is alleged the deceased (33) and his wife were driving along Motala Road in Westmead, in March at about 7.30am, when two armed suspects jumped off from a Toyota Tazz vehicle to rob them.

“The deceased and his wife were accosted with firearms and the husband was fatally shot. An undisclosed amount of cash and two cellphones were also stolen,” he said.

A case of murder and armed robbery was opened at Pinetown police station for further investigation.

The arrested suspect is expected to make his first appearance in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 29 August.
