Pinetown church creates hearty care parcels
The Pinelands Community Church donated dozens of much-needed care parcels and plush toys to the SAPS FCS unit.
IN an effort to help restore the dignity and comfort of victims of sexual assault, the Pinelands Community Church in Pinetown donated dozens of toiletry bags and plush toys.
Most of the victims the Family Violence, Child Protection, Sexual Offences (FCS) unit deals with are women and children.
Ideally, the team would like nothing more than to hand out care packages to each of the victims they work with.
With the support from the community and a few of its members, they are now able to hand over plush toys, cosmetics, toiletries, feminine care products, face towels, motivational books and messages of inspiration to dozens in need.

The Pinelands Community Church has partnered with the SAPS FCS unit and will donate care packages for victims on a regular basis. The first handover took place this Sunday.
This local unit covers Pinetown, Hillcrest, KwaDabeka, Mpumalanga, Westville, Inchanga, Hammarsdale and Umsunduzi.
Members of the FCS unit addressed the congregation and spoke about the severity of a few of the cases they dealt with on a daily basis. The team also offered advice on how to protect one’s self and children.
“We are a church that is passionate about outreach and we saw fit to partner with the SAPS FCS unit and not only make their jobs a little easier but to give them the ongoing support they need. I would like to thank each and every member of our church for giving towards this project,” said pastor Daryl Moonsamy.
