The South African Writers' Circle's general meeting includes a talk by local author, Cristy Zinn and a historical fiction workshop.

THE South African Writers’ Circle, a non-profit organisation for published and beginner writers, invites residents to attend its general meeting on Saturday, 17 August at the Westville Library from 10am.

The guest speaker is Cristy Zinn, an author of two children’s fantasy novels, The Dreamer’s Tears and Of Magic and Memory and her topic is Writings From Inside a Child’s Mind.

She has also published various short stories in science fiction anthologies. Her latest short story, The Girl Who Stared at Mars, has been nominated for a NOMMO award.

She is enthralled by stories involving the fantastic, both technological and magical.

Cristy works as an illustrator and designer for the children’s book industry and lives in Durban with her husband and two teenagers who graciously endure her obsession with stories.

Members and non-members will enjoy an alfresco lunch in the garden. After lunch there will be a one-hour workshop by Dave Baker on historical fiction which will be held for no longer than an hour.
