CELEBRATION was in the air at Knowles Spar on a sunny midwinter’s day when the winner of a bright red car was announced outside the store at noon.
Pinetown’s Blake Nurden won one of 50 Hyundai Grand i10s which are up for grabs by Spar shoppers who use the loyalty card to shop for selected items from any Spar store.
“I’ve never won anything before in my life,” he laughed when explaining how taken aback he was to receive the call saying he had won the car.
At the recent celebration outside the store, mascots for some of the brands represented in the competition as well as representatives of other items, kept the shoppers at the store entertained until Blake was handed the keys to his car, which he then promptly handed over to his mother, Lyn.
“She needs the car, so I have given it to her,” he said smiling when asked what he was going to do with his new car.
“I am delighted that I get to drive off in this new car,” said a beaming Lyn Nurden.
