Five illegal immigrants arrested at Mariannhill Toll Plaza

Twenty-three other motorists were issued with fines for not complying with the traffic act.

A MULTI-disciplinary operation was conducted by police with Road Traffic Inspectorate officers at the Mariannhill Toll Plaza on Saturday, 2 August.

According to KZN police spokesperson, Col Thembeka Mbele, five illegal immigrants were arrested for being in the country without valid documentation and one driver was arrested for driving under the influence of an intoxicating substance.

“Twenty-three other motorists were issued with fines for not complying with the traffic act. Such operations are continuing in the province with other law enforcement agencies,” said Mbele.
