More than 300 guests attended the event on Saturday, 20 July at the Shongweni Farmers Market.

A friend of Jason and the woman who runs the Live Life Foundation, Andrea van Munster, outlined what Jason goes through on a daily basis as he comes to terms and adjusts to life as a quadriplegic and Jason gave an emotionally-charged appreciation speech.

Mountain bike designer and manufacturer, Patrick Morewood from PYGA bikes, gave an interesting talk about the industry in general and future trends in off-road cycling.

The evening was full of upliftment as Joey Evans, a paraplegic motorbike rider, spoke about how he managed to overcome some massive challenges before ultimately managing to complete the 2017 Dakar Rally on a motorbike.

More than R100 000 worth of lucky draw prizes were given out on the evening and the main prize of a 2020 PYGA bike frame was auctioned.

In total R166 000 was raised to support Jason, make his life more comfortable and assist with his monthly expenses.

The aim is to make this event an annual one in support of Jason and other quad/paraplegic sportsmen and women.
