Pinetown man left to suffer after attempted robbery

Raymond Naidoo was stabbed outside doctor's rooms in Moodie Street during an attempted robbery.

THE life of a working husband has been turned upside down after he was stabbed in the leg during an attempted robbery in Pinetown.

Pinetown resident, Raymond Naidoo, was taking his mother to a doctor in Moodie Street opposite the home affairs department when this unfortunate incident happened.

“It was about 9am, I had double-parked next to another car so I took my mother inside the doctor’s room and I rushed outside to try and find a parking.”

Raymond said within seconds when he got inside the car, a man approached him waving a knife and demanding all sort of things.

“He demanded money, my wallet, phone and even the car keys. I was scared that he was was going to stab me in the neck so I moved backward and pushed him with my leg. He stabbed me and then fled.

“I did not even realise I was stabbed until I got out of the car and saw blood gushing out of my leg,” said Raymond.

He was taken inside the doctor’s rooms but they could not stop the bleeding so he had to be rushed to RK Khan Hospital.

“My main artery was damaged and while at the hospital, I continued to lose lots of blood and an emergency operation had to be done. Two veins from my main artery were operated on and taken out. I spent the whole week in hospital,” said Raymond.

He now uses crutches to get around and had to be transported around as a result of this incident.

What worries him the most is that he has no feelings under his leg as his nerves and veins were damaged.

“I have recently just returned to work but I can only spent one or two hours there as my leg just start bleeding.”

The father of two said he wants to warn people about the Pinetown area so that they do not find them in the same or worse situation than his.

“Things that are happening in the Pinetown area are unbelievable. The worst part is that my attacker did not take anything but I am left to suffer. Before this incident I was a perfectly normal working family man. Who is going to look after them now?”

Pinetown Cluster communications officer, Capt Bongumusa Manqele, confirmed the incident and said a case of attempted robbery case has been opened but no one has been arrested yet.
