Hillcrest car thief nabbed after high speed chase on N2

With the assistance of Z2 Security and Kwadakuza Metro Police, the vehicle was stopped about two kilometres before the Gingindlovu off-ramp.

A MAN has been arrested following a high-speed chase on the N2 on Thursday afternoon.

It is believed the man was spotted with the Toyota Hilux, in Umhlanga Ridge, which had been stolen from the Hillcrest area on Thursday morning.

According to Marshall Security, their control room received the call from a member of the public around noon.

The citizen followed the vehicle to the N2, where it traveled in a northerly direction, however, at that point the suspect realised that he was being followed and attempted to flee.

“Information was relayed to the Marshall Security Special Operations Team who were ready to assist. The member of the public kept a safe following distance while maintaining visuals on the vehicle and relaying information to Marshall Security team,” said Kyle Van Reenen, Marshall Security’s media liaison.

With the assistance of Z2 Security and Kwadakuza Metro Police, the vehicle was stopped about two kilometres before the Gingindlovu off-ramp.

The suspect was arrested on scene and remanded into custody.
