Police operation leads to murder suspect’s arrest

The deceased was shot three times and stabbed seven times.

AN intelligence driven operation between Pinetown Crime Intelligence and Durban Metro Police resulted in the arrest of a 45-year-old murder suspect.

The suspect was arrested on Tuesday afternoon at Mpuma ward in Inchanga, and was also found in possession of a revolver with five rounds of ammunition.

According to Pinetown Cluster communications officer, Capt Bongumusa Manqele, it is alleged that on 19 May this year the deceased (38) was at Mpuma ward when he was attacked by the suspect.

“The suspect allegedly shot the deceased three times on the body and he also stabbed him seven times in his back. A case of murder was opened at Inchanga police station for investigation,” said Manqele.

The suspect appeared in the Camperdown Magistrate’s Court yesterday, (Thursday, 18 July) and a case of possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition has been added to the charge of murder.
