Madiba’s legacy lives on at HACT

Volunteers flocked to the Hillcrest AIDS Centre Trust on Mandela Day to show their support.

MORE than 100 volunteers from the Upper Highway community gave 67 minutes of their time to help out at the Hillcrest AIDS Centre Trust (HACT) last week in honour of Mandela Day.

With this year marking the 10th anniversary of Mandela Day, the volunteers also assisted HACT’s Respite Unit patients and staff in creating a special painting that will be framed and hung in the unit’s reception area to commemorate and honour Madiba’s legacy.

HACT’s CEO, Candace Davidson, said, “We are so grateful to our wider community for the love and support they have shown us again this year on Mandela Day! With the help of our many friends, donors and partners, we believe Madiba’s legacy of love and acceptance lives on everyday here at our centre.”
