All set for Mahala market

You can help by donating pre-loved clothing and many other items.

ON Thursday, 18 July South Africans celebrate the birthday of former President Nelson Mandela by giving 67 minutes of their time to worthy causes. One such cause, is a fun day dedicated to children, the Mandela Day Mahala Kids Market.

Just imagine the pure joy of the children invited to a special market where they can browse and choose what they want at no cost?

This amazing treat has been arranged by The Robin Hood Foundation, in collaboration with the Dischem Foundation.

Together they are hosting a Mandela Day Mahala Kids Market on Thursday, 18 July in Ntshongweni for the 800 children at Lalelani Primary School.

There will be an educational workshop and a delicious lunch before the children get to ‘shop’ for clothing, shoes, toys and stationery for free.

“We will set up the market in their hall. Our hope is that each child will be able to take home at least five new outfits, toiletries, stationery, blankets and non-perishable food. We appeal to the community to get involved and show their support,” said Kim Griffith Jones, co-ordinator for The Robin Hood Foundation.

You can help by donating pre-loved clothing (ages five years to adult), linen, towels, toys, shoes, toiletries, stationery and non-perishable food, or donate R67.
