All roads lead to Vodacom Durban July

Celebrities gather for the fun Engen road trip to the Vodacom Durban July.

ENGEN officially launched the countdown to the 2019 Vodacom Durban July (VDJ) by hosting an epic road-trip across Kwa-Zulu Natal.

The adventure is set to end at the VDJ main event on Saturday, 6 July at Hollywoodbets Greyville Race Course.

Engen recently announced a three-year partnership with Africa’s greatest horse racing event as its official fuel partner.

Invited along for the journey are celebrities: Bob Mabena, (Radio/TV Personality), DJ Naked (DJ/Radio Personality), Lerato Kganyago (Radio DJ, TV Presenter and Actress), Matthew Mensah (Businessman, Fashion Influencer) and Inga Gubeka (Fashion Designer and Entrepreneur).

Kicking off in the scenic KZN Midlands, day 1 of the road trip included a welcome dinner and overnight stay at the iconic Granny Mouse Hotel and Spa with entertainment provided by Afro-soul singer, Naima Kay.

The group, transported in a convoy of luxury vehicles, will set out for Durban today, (Friday, 5 July) and participants will be sharing highlights of their travels across the breath-taking coastal province on social media using the hashtag #allroadsleadtovdj.

Commenting on Engen’s sponsorship of VDJ, Bulela Mkandawire, Engen Brand and Sponsorship manager said: “The Vodacom Durban July contributes significantly to the local economy of Durban and we are pleased to have the opportunity to be part of this esteemed platform to further support economic activity in the province.”

Beyond sponsorship

KZN is integral to Engen’s business strategy as it is home to a number of the company’s key assets, including the Engen Refinery, a crucial component in ensuring South Africa’s fuel needs are met.

At its regional office in Westville, as well as at its Refinery and Lubricants Oil Blend Plant in Island View, Engen continuously invests in skills development and graduate training programmes to strengthen job creation and retention within a complex industry, and amidst a tough economic climate.
