Durban July road safety blitz

Transport Minister, Fikile Mbalula, inspects law enforcement plans on the N3 Highway in Heidelberg tomorrow (Friday) ahead of the Vodacom Durban July.

IN anticipation of all roads leading to the 2019 Vodacom Durban July, the Transport Minister, Fikile Mbalula, will be on the N3 Highway in Heidelberg tomorrow (Friday) to inspect law enforcement efforts ahead of the Vodacom Durban July.

The horsing event and related festivities take place on the weekend of 6 July and the popular event attracts thousands of revellers, many of whom commute by road, via the N3 highway.

About 16 000 vehicles travel on the N3 between Heidelberg and Cedara daily with an increase to 30 000 a day during peak holiday periods.

On average, there are three accidents a day along this busy stretch of road.

Minister Mbalula’s inspection serves as a preventative measure, aimed at reducing the carnage by fortifying law enforcement officials and deterring motorists from errant driving.
