Sheriff warms hearts with food donation

The team from the Sheriff's Department celebrated Sheriff's Day by handing out 700 delicious meals last week.

WITH a deep chill in the air, it was the perfect day for the Sheriff’s Department to hand out 700 piping hot meals to the crowds at the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court.

To celebrate Sheriff’s Day on Thursday, 13 June, the team chose to treat those gathered at the local court with a vegetable biryani, dhal, salad and a juice.

The local sheriff, Nicholas Nxumalo, said, “It’s a great place to help people who are from different walks of life rather than target one specific area of our community. It feels very good to give back to the community and to help out in any way we can. There are many people here who have come to court today and are not able to afford a cup of tea on such a chilly day.”

The senior magistrate at the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court, Themba Sishi, said he greatly appreciated the outreach project the sheriff hosted at the court.
