THE weather predictions are good, and the excitement is building, as fans start preparing for a fun-filled day out with family and friends on Sunday, 30 June, at 12.30pm.

Mi Casa, Hot Water, Nipho Hurd and Menzi Mngoma will bring the music, while attendees are encouraged to bring their own food, drinks, blankets and camping chairs to make the most of what Durban is offering.

The selection of music at the inaugural 2019 concert is not by chance. Old Mutual, together with East Coast Radio and the Durban Botanic Gardens Trust are all dedicated to the upliftment of the local area, its people and the growth opportunities available for both.

Old Mutual sponsorship manager, Bandile Mngoma, believes in connecting with people on platforms that ignite passion and enjoyment.

“Through our sponsorship of the series, we not only help to promote and encourage more visitors to these wonderful outdoor venues where the footfall helps to sustain the gardens and keep them maintained, but we also get the opportunity to encourage, support and empower aspiring and existing artists.

“As the custodians of our customers financial futures we have a responsibility to help inspire, motivate and encourage everyone to be their exceptional best and develop themselves, their passions and ultimately achieve their dreams.”

Hot Water lead singer Donovan Copley is passionate about the Spirit of South Africa. His hit song ‘Wamkelekile’, which fans are looking forward to hearing on Sunday, was written with this spirit in mind.

“It was pretty incredible to get an email from Warner Bros one day requesting use of the song in their film Blended, starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore,” said Copley. “The entire song plays out in the centre of the film – danced to by the entire cast! It also plays out in the credits and appears in the sound track. This makes Wamkelekile the most prominently used South African song in an international film ever. At the very least, Wamkelekile has and is fulfilling its purpose and I’m super happy about that!”

The young and talented Nipho Hurd is excited about the opportunity to perform to thousands of Durbanites.

Tickets are available via www.webtickets.co.za and can be purchased from the gates. Tickets cost R155 for adults, R100 for children between 6 and 12, and R20 for children Under 6.
